How the Process Works
Do you have a hospital bill you can’t afford to pay? Charity care should be your first solution.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility Visit the Bridging Care / Dollar For portal to use their quick eligibility tool. If you qualify, you’ll fill out a patient form and upload required documents like tax returns or bank statements.
Step 2: Application Submission The Dollar For team uses your information to prepare a custom hospital application. They handle the logistics—mailing, emailing, or faxing the application and financial records directly to the hospital.
Step 3: Advocacy and Forgiveness Hospitals typically take 3–8 weeks to review applications. During this time, a patient advocate will check in with you, provide tips on how to communicate with the hospital, and help you submit any additional information requested. If approved, your bill could be forgiven in just a few short months.
